How do I register for the courses offered on the LACNIC Campus?

If you are not a LACNIC member, you must register through the LACNIC Events System: http://eventos.lacnic.net

How do I register for the courses if I am a LACNIC member?

LACNIC member organizations must register through the Mi LACNIC portal with the usernames registered in the LACNIC database.

How do I access the course for which I registered?

Go to the LACNIC Campus platform and click on the “Login” button, then enter the username and password included in the email you received on the first day of the course.

Can I create a user directly on the LACNIC Campus?

No. Your credentials (username and password) will be automatically sent by the LACNIC Events System after you complete the registration process for a course.

How can I check the courses’ registration dates?

The registration dates for all the courses are available on the LACNIC Campus training calendar

Where can I find information about each of the courses?

For general and detailed information on all the courses, go to https://campus.lacnic.net/cursos/ In addition to information about the course, the page for each course contains a direct link to the registration form (depending on the registration period).

Which courses have a registration fee?

Courses offered in tutor-assisted format are subject to a registration fee.

Students who do not pass or do not complete the course and choose to retake it will be required to pay the full registration fee once again. Courses offered in self-assisted format are offered free of charge.

Course formats

The courses offered on the LACNIC Campus are available in self-assisted and tutor-assisted format.

Self-assisted course

Each student will go through a series of modules where they will have access to audiovisual materials, theory, and self-evaluation tests that will enhance their learning experience. Courses in this format are offered free of charge.

At what time will the course be offered?

The course does not have a fixed schedule. Students will have 24-hour access to the course content throughout the training period, allowing them to progress at their own convenience. The only schedule students must keep in mind is the course start and end times, which are set at 18:00 UTC.

What is the duration of a self-assisted course?

Depending on the topic, self-assisted courses may have a duration of 4 to 12 weeks.

How many hours per day will I need to dedicate to the course?

Course workload depends on the topic and may range from 20 to 65 hours, which may be distributed as five hours per week.

Do courses include a final exam?

Yes. Participants must take a final exam and score 70% or more in order to receive their course approval diploma.

Tutor-assisted format

A specialist will guide students throughout the course.

The course is divided into modules, one of which will be made available each week.

During this period, students will have access to study materials, videos, practical activities, and self-evaluation tests that will be available 24 hours a day. They will also have access to a discussion forum through which they will be able to communicate with their tutor and classmates.

Courses offered in this format are subject to a registration fee.

What is the duration of a tutor-assisted course?

Depending on the topic, tutor-assisted courses have a duration of 5 to 6 weeks.

What is the deadline (date and time) for completing each weekly activity?

The modules will be made available on Mondays at 18:00 UTC, following the dates provided as part of the course information.

The discussion forum for each module will only be available during the corresponding week and will be disabled at the end of the week at 18:00 UTC.

How many hours per day will I need to dedicate to the course?

The workload depends on the topic and may range from 30 to 60 hours, which may be distributed as five hours per week.

Do courses include a final exam?

Yes. Participants must take a final exam and score 70% or more in order to receive their course approval diploma.

Who are the tutors?

The tutors who are part of the Campus are constantly updating their knowledge on the implementation of new technologies related to Internet resources, including IPv6, Cybersecurity, BGP, RPKI, DNS, and other topics. Click here to meet them https://campus.lacnic.net/cursos/

In which languages and at what levels are the courses taught?

Most of the courses are in Spanish, but some of them are also available in English. We offer courses at basic, intermediate, and advanced levels.

What device can I use to take the online courses?

The LACNIC Campus can be accessed from any device connected to the Internet. You will also need to download the Moodle App for iOS or Android.

Campus Specializations

How can I begin a specialization?

This depends on your selected specialization and training track. All you have to do is register and take the courses that are part of the track, which are available on the LACNIC Campus.

Is there a fee for the specializations?

The only cost students must pay is the registration fee for the courses for which a registration fee applies. In this case, the courses offered in tutor-assisted format.

*Fees will only be waived for LACNIC member organizations.

How do I know if I completed one of the levels of the specialization?

If you complete all the courses corresponding to a certain level, you will automatically be awarded a badge and notified via email. The badge will also be visible on your LACNIC Campus user profile.

I have previously completed several courses on the LACNIC Campus. Do these courses count towards the specialization?

If you completed a version of a course that is not included on this list, this course may not be validated, and you will therefore have to complete the current version of the course or take the final exam corresponding to this latest version.
